The Most Common Problems When Sketching Architecture and The Solutions

    Some beginners experience several problems when drawing architecture. This is because they just draw without knowing the techniques that must be used when drawing. Knowing drawing techniques aims to make sketches easily. Some beginners rely heavily on mentors which will take time if they wait without learning independently. For this reason, in this article, I will share several techniques that I use when drawing architecture. Dirty Paper

    This is the most frequently encountered problem. Most people have dirty paper because they don't look after the pencil or pen they are holding. This problem can be overcome with several techniques:

1. If you are a sketcher who uses a ruler, always clean the ruler after touching pen or pencil. If using a pencil, I usually clean around 5 minutes x 1 time. If I use a pen, I usually clean every 3 lines x 1 time. Therefore, every time I draw, I always provide tissue on my desk.
2. If you are a sketcher who uses two lines, namely 1 basic line using a pencil and 1 final line using a pen, then follow this technique. When making the final line, thicken it with a drawing pen starting from the top. If you start from the bottom and then the top, then when you draw the top, your hand will hit the lines you have drawn at the bottom.
3. Always use a clean eraser. If your eraser is dirty, rub it on the blank paper first before rubbing on your sketch.
4. When using a ruler that touches the lines, don't move the ruler, but lift it. This aims to ensure that the lines you have drawn don't shift and make your paper dirty.

Relying Too Much on Rulers

    Actually, drawing using a ruler or not is not important. What is important is how you sketch the building with the right structure. You can draw without using a ruler. Start by practicing making straight lines. A ruler helps you to make your building drawings look measured, but you shouldn't make a ruler the only thing that is important in drawing architecture.
